Top Outfits of 2015

In 2015 I experimented with my style a lot! Adding new colors, playing with non-printed pieces for the first time, and wearing new styles, I had so many opportunities to create new looks. I even managed to track down another dream dress, Milky Planet, the dress that inspired me to start wearing lolita fashion. Here are my favorite outfits from 2015 in no particular order (click on any of the images to enlarge them).

Birthday Outfit With Angelic Pretty's Milky Planet

For my birthday this year, I decided to wear my newly acquired Milky Planet JSK. It was one of my dream dresses for the longest time because it was the dress that inspired me to start wearing lolita fashion. I never imagined that I would be able to wear it myself some day. I'm so happy that I decided to start wearing the fashion, it's been such a wonderful experience. More details on the outfit under the cut.

Japonica Market Shopping Service Review

Shopping services are something that I don't have too much experience with. I had avoided using for a few years because I was always worried about the complications. They seemed difficult to use, and I was nervous about issues with communication happening. For anyone who doesn't know, a shopping service is a company that will buy things from international websites that don't ship to other countries, and then ship them to you. I decided to finally try using one to take advantage of some of the cheaper prices on the Japanese auction sites like Yahoo Japan, and Mbok. There are so many shopping services to choose from it can be hard to pick. I decided on Japonica Market because I had two people recommend them to me, and it turned out to be a very positive experience.

LBC: Make an Autumn Coord

My favorite thing about the fall is that the cooler weather allows me to wear more of my clothes! I enjoy layering my clothes and having opportunities to wear materials that are too hot to wear year round. I designed an autumn hime lolita coord for this challenge. The focus was on the different types of fabric that are perfect for fall weather.

Outfit Rundown:

Hair Bow - Angelic Pretty
Capelet - Angelic Pretty
Skirt - Victorian Tassel - Angelic Pretty
Socks - Day Dream Carnival - Angelic Pretty
Bag - Angelic Pretty
Shoes - Bodyline

Autumn is the perfect time to break out the velvet and faux fur. I paired dusty pink with beige to create a soft color palette. The gold accents in the skirt help it blend nicely with the capelet. I topped off the outfit with gold shoes and my new Day Dream Carnival socks to give it more of a hime style influence.

Sailor Coord with Angelic Pretty's Vintage School JSK

One of my goals for the summer was to put together my first sailor themed coordinate. I had been searching for a nice sailor style dress online for a few months with not much luck, but when I saw Angelic Pretty's Vintage School JSK in navy, I knew it was perfect for what I was picturing. The navy, red and white color scheme is one of my favorite elements of the sailor style. I feel that this dress really balances the three colors between all of the small details that are incorporated throughout the design.

Outfit Rundown:

Hair Bow - Enchantlic Enchantilly
Wig - Lockshop
Blouse - Bodyline
JSK - "Vintage School" - Angelic Pretty
Bag - Loris
Tights - Target
Accessories - Vintage
Shoes - Bodyline

I coordinated the outfit with pieces that incorporated red and white together to bring out both of those colors in the dress. I accessorized with lots of pearls to match the aquatic theme. I think the star motifs in the tights and bag make a cute addition to sailor imagery.

I had the chance to wear this out to a local convention today, and it was so much fun to wear! The dress has a lot of fabric, so I can make it super poofy. I also love it when my glasses perfectly match a coord.

Angelic Pretty's Fancy Paper Dolls Print

The Fancy Paper Dolls print series has always been one of my favorite prints, especially because it was the print that I used in my first lolita coordinate! Recently I found the matching tights to the print series after more than a year and half of searching for them, so I thought that it would be fun to create a new coord using them.

 Outfit Rundown:

Hair Bows - Angelic Pretty
Blouse - Bodyline
JSK - Fancy Paper Dolls - Angelic Pretty
Tights - Fancy Paper Dolls - Angelic Pretty
Bag - Angelic Pretty
Shoes - Bodyline
Accessories - Angelic Pretty and the Lolita Collective

I used every piece from the series that I have: the JSK, hair bow, tights, and necklace. I accessorized with pink bows and a pink blouse to bring out the pastel colors in the dress.

I'm trying to collect as many items from the print series as I can. Thank you to my friend Haley who got me the Imai Kira illustration postcard shown below.

Here are some of my favorite details of the dress.

Bodyline Review: L410 and Shoes 291

This review is for Bodyline's cutsew L410 in red, and Shoes 291 in dark red. I bought these for a new sailor coordinate that I'm working on, and I think that they're perfect for what I need. I'll be posting more about that coordinate as soon as I finish it.

Cutsew L410:

First up is the cutsew. It's under Bodyline's blouse section on their website, but it's definitely a cutsew.  The quality isn't the best, but I wasn't expecting too much because it doesn't look that great in the stock photos. The lace is shiny and doesn't photograph too well; however, it does look a little better in person. The shirring and lacing in the back is a nice touch that allows a much wider variety in fit. Blouses are often too wide on me, but with this I can make the cutsew narrow enough. I like the rose lace that is used as a border. The main thing that I'm impressed with is the comfort. The material is very soft and this is easily a piece that I could wear all day long. I also like that there is elastic in the sleeves, so they fit perfectly around my arms.

The photos above show how shiny the lace looks. It doesn't actually bother me too much because even though it's shiny, it's actually quite soft and doesn't feel scratchy at all. Most of the lace on Bodyline blouses are so scratchy that I can't wear them for long periods of time. Overall, I'm happy with this piece because I feel that the comfort makes up for the lack in quality.

Shoes 291:

When I first took the shoe box out of the plastic shipping envelope, I was immediately worried because the corner of the box was completely smashed in. Thankfully, the shoes were still in perfect shape. This is probably just a damage that occurred while the package was in transit to my house.

I'm happy with the shoes! I picked these ones because they were the only red shoes still in stock in my size. I'm glad I liked the style too. The color is a bit darker than how they look in the stock photos, but I think it's a really nice shade of red.

These shoes fit me the best out of all my Bodyline shoes. I've found that most of their shoes run a little wide for my feet, but these are a more close fit. I can keep the two cross straps buckled and slide my feet in by only unbuckling the ankle strap, which makes putting on these shoes very quick. The ankle strap is a little big on me, but it's not too noticeable.

I like the white scalloping details on the shoes, I think it's a cute touch. The padding on the inside of the shoes feels like Bodyline's usual padding. Another thing to note is that the ankle straps are removable. I prefer to keep them on because when I remove them my feet don't really stay in the shoe. That's most likely just due to me having narrow feet.

Here is what they look like on. The filter on the photo makes them look a lot brighter than they really are.

I hope this answered any questions that you may have about either of these items. If there's anything else you want to know, just ask me down in the comments! Thank you for reading!
